Mixed mode surveys
While surveys become more and more expensive, survey participation rates are decreasing, and coverage problems within the well-established sampling frames induce important response biases. This applies for example to the Swiss telephone directory, that is largely used for drawing samples.
More information on the use of the different modes (telephone, mail, web, and/or face-to-face procedures to collect data), and the mixing of modes is required. This research group thus intends to explore nonresponse and bias related issues with fixed initial mode condition as well as mode selection, by testing different survey modes in both different initial and sequential conditions.
