Methodological research

Methodological research is an essential part of the FORS mandate. The methodological research program of FORS addresses three major areas of survey data quality by way of three distinct but interrelated research groups.

  • Secondly, survey translation across language versions of survey instruments, as well as issues related to measurement equivalence.

Combining substantive and methodological interests, a FORS/LINES collaborative research group has established an open initiative to investigate representation of minorities in social surveys. In addition to characterising problems of including different minority groups in surveys, projects examine ways to improve representation and data quality, with focus in part on remedies for nonresponse and linguistic barriers.

The joint Methods and Research Meetings of IMA (Institute of Applied Mathematics), MISC (Research Centre Methodology, Inequalities and Social Change) and FORS are a platform where members of these and other units of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences as well as guest speakers present their methodological research.
