Paintings by Vallotton are held in twenty-one Swiss museums and in twenty-three museums in France, his adoptive country. Ten museums in Germany, seven in the United States and three in Russia own a series of his paintings. Moreover, a journey in search of other museums keeping at least one of his paintings would take us from Algeria to Belgium, Bulgaria to Canada, England to Finland, the Netherlands to South Africa and even to Australia. Below is a list restricted to the most important museums and the collections in which Vallotton is most widely represented.
