Tetradrachmon, ca. 357-338 v.Chr.
Kopf der Nymphe Euboia mit eingerolltem Haar rechts.
Rs: ΕΥΒ. Kuh auf Abschnittlinie nach rechts stehend, den Kopf leicht zum Betrachter gewandt.
Wallace 14 (Vs. VI/Rs. 8). 16,61 g. St.11.
Sehr selten.

From the collection of Charles Gillet, 918. Various opinions have been put forth regarding the dating of these tetradrachms but recent scholarship seems to favour the "late" chronology, 357-338 B.C. The die cutter who engraved the die for this obverse must have been a very gifted artist. A stunningly beautiful profile in the best tradition of classical Greek art.
