Bronze, ca. 100-90 v.Chr.
XAΛKI / ΔEΩN. Hera in Quadriga im Schritt nach rechts fahrend, mit beiden Händen die Zügel und in der erhobenen Rechten zudem ein Szepter haltend.
Rs: ΘEO / KΛHΣ / ΠAYΣA / NIOY in vier Zeilen in Lorbeerkranz.
Picard Emission 94, 8 und Taf. XXII, 94,4 (dieses Exemplar, das Gewicht jedoch irrtümlich mit 7,65 g angegeben). BMC 89 und Taf. XXI, 4. RPC 1343. 7,54 g. St.12.

D. Knoepfler, BCH 103 (1979) 165-188, argues convincingly that this interesting coin is an issue... "d'un monétaire qui était un athlète ou même, peut-être, d'un athlète nommé sur une monnaie" and dates to 100-90 B.C. RPC (p. 269) dates under Mark Antony, in the 30's, but without valid reasons. An important agonistic type.
