Tetrobol, zweite Hälfte 4. Jhdt.v.Chr.
Kopf der Nymphe Histiaia mit Sakkos, einem Kranz aus Weinlaub und Trauben, einteiligem Ohranhänger und Halskette rechts.
Rs: IΣ - TI / A[IEΩN] (teilweise retrograd). Die Nymphe Histiaia in langem Gewand auf Schiffsheck nach rechts sitzend, die Linke auf Stylis legend und die Rechte auf den Rand des Rumpfes stützend, der mit einem Flügel verziert ist.

Äußerst selten.

This earliest known tetrobol is the prototype of the coins that in the third and especially the second century were issued in large numbers and circulated widely within Greece. The dies are by the same hand as the preceding octobol. Newell apparently was not aware of this issue because he only compared his octobol to the early drachms and the grapes tetrobols (see nos. 360 and 366 of this catalogue).
