Bronze, 2./1. Jhdt.v.Chr.
Kopf des bärtigen Herakles mit Lorbeerkranz rechts.
Rs: IΣTIAIEΩN. Die Nymphe Histiaia in langem Gewand auf Schiffsheck nach rechts sitzend, die Linke zur Stylis ausstreckend und die Rechte auf den Rand des Rumpfes stützend; im Feld links Weintraube.
2,91 g. St.12.
Äußerst selten, wohl unpubliziertes Unikum.

Apparently this is the only known coin of Histiaia which departs from the established "nymph" obverses. The head of Heracles is similar to some contemporary bronzes of Patrae (see BMC Peloponnesus, pl. V, no.8).
