The BD LSR II system is firmly established as a premier research analyzer, offering the greatest choice of colors, and the flexibility to grow with developing experimental needs. The LSR II uses BD’s patented octagon and trigon detection system. Using reflective optics and fiber-coupled PMTs ensures efficient light collection. The quartz cuvette is coupled to the emission lens by a refractive-index matching optical gel for optimum collection efficiency.
There are two LSR-II's located in C300, one of which employs a 4 laser configuration and the other a 5 laser configuration. The 4 Laser LSR-II is built with 405nm, 488nm, 561nm and 640nm excitation lasers offering a wide range of usable fluorescent markers and highest flexibility in experimental design. The 561nm laser offers several advantages for PE and PE-Tandem dye detection in contrast to 488nm excitation classically used.
The 4-Laser LSR-II can be connected to a BD High Throughput sampler. Thus it is able to automatically process a 96well plate in about 20min.

After hours access to this analyser is currently restricted to experienced in-house users. This analyser should only be used if one of the simpler ones (FACScan or FACSCalibur) is not appropiate for your experimental needs.
